Catch the interest in the hand soap by the Dutch police at 1:08, a drug reference in a Tati film, an effort at contemporary issues in Mr Hulot’s world?
I think it actually is sugar…..an even more obvious reference.

Watching the Criterion version with clearer audio and less crappy dubbing, the Dutch police ask to have it analized, don;t often do that with soap!
